Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are designed to promote consistency in delivery, to the required quality standards, across the Trust. They should be regarded as a key element of the training provision for staff to help them to deliver their roles and responsibilities. The purpose of this Health and Safety SOP is to provide detailed procedures relating to Fast Freight Forward operation and to control any safety risks associated with the operations.
This guide is for Fast Freight Forward employees, delivery drivers, subcontractors and those who want some basic information on what they must do to make sure that their actions comply with health and safety law and our company policies.
At Fast Freight Forward, all employees get consultation on a regular basis by providing training to the new employee, allowing staff to raise concern and influence decision to manage health and safety risks. Our subcontractors and self-employed staff are obliged to comply with this guideline.

At Fast Freight Forward, we have the following facilities for our employees to ensure welfare, health, and safety facilities:
Welfare facilities:
■ toilets and hand basins, with soap and towels or a hand-dryer.
■ drinking water.
■ a place to store clothing (and somewhere to change if special clothing is worn for work);
■ somewhere to rest and eat meals.
■ good ventilation – a supply of fresh, clean air drawn from outside or a ventilation system.
■ a reasonable working temperature (usually at least 16°C, or 13°C for strenuous work, unless other laws require lower temperatures);
■ lighting suitable for the work being carried out.
■ enough room space and suitable workstations and seating.
■ a clean workplace with appropriate waste containers
■ work equipment are properly maintained.
■ ensure floors and walking routes free from obstruction.
■ windows that can be opened and cleaned safely.
At Fast Freight Forward, we ensure that the employees receive immediate attention if they are taken ill or are injured at work. We have the following procedure for first aid which all employees are informed:

Who to report?
At Fast Freight Forward, Abdul Wajid is the health and safety representative who should be reported to if any health and safety issue is noticed. Whereas if any employee is injured in workplace, should be reported to Mohammad Alam for first aid.
At Fast Freight Forward, we ensure that the employee’s illness health and accidents are recorded as per health and safety law.
Health and Safety Law poster:
The health and safety law poster is displayed on the entrance of Fast Freight Forward to ensure that the poster is visible to all the employees.
At Fast Freight Forward, we ensure that the employees are informed about the fire alarm, fire exit (main door) and the fire assembly point (front of the building).
To ensure the employee’s financial safety, Fast Freight Forward has employer liability insurance of up to £1,000,000. The current insurance is valid until 15 March 2023.
At Fast Freight Forward, we ensure that the information we provide to our employees, drivers, and subcontractors, are up to date. Any changes in government health and safety policy, (www.hse.gov.uk) will be noted immediately and the related parties will be informed.

Workers have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions at work. Workers must co-operate with employers and co-workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements’ (hse.gov.uk).
At Fast Freight Forward, we ensure that the employees follow company policy in place which covers the health and safety law and beyond. The following guidelines are followed in each step.
At Fast Freight Forward, we ensure that the office premises is safe for the workers. A regular risk assessment is taken place using SIX step risk assessment templates to avoid any unwanted event.
Our drivers must comply with our health and safety guideline on both collection and delivery site as well as while driving on the road. Our driver will also take necessary precaution to avoid any accident/incident on the sites. We ensure that our drivers are wearing full and complete personal protection equipment PPE on the sites. We also request that we/our driver should be informed by the operators of any premises visited by drivers should provide Health and Safety information and guidance specific to the site, which includes as a minimum:
